A wonderfully simple but mighty jig that makes pocketing out finger grip / hand grips into the bottom of a cutting board a breeze. This jig is available in two different sizes, the standard size makes 4x2" finger/hand grips with a 0.5" internal radius on the inside corners. The wide size makes 6.5x1.75" finger/hand grips with a 0.5" internal radius on the inside corners. Be sure to choose the correct size using the drop down menu before pressing add-to-cart.
Simply apply some two way tape / woodworking template tape (or hot glue) to the jig to put it in place, lining up the center point marker on the jig with the center of your board.
Grab your handheld router with any suitable pocketing bit with a bottom mounted bearing. We recommend a rounded / bowl bit for the nicest interior corner finish. Alternatively if you dont have a bit with a bearing, you can use any standard pocketing bit along with a router bushing (the router bushing acts as the bearing, riding along the interior perimeter of the jig).
A must have jig if you make cutting boards or butcher blocks! Make sure you check out our full line of helpful jigs here.
Great product. However, needing two is/makes the project much easier. You (Crafted Elements) should offer a pair for a cheaper price to the consumer. I've had to purchase two of each size. Not pleased about doing so. Also, being they are constructed by 3D material and not very rugged.... I've accidently chipped one.
This was the perfect solution to create a seamless hidden pocket handle….
A Great addition to my router template collection!!
Highly recommended product!!

It’s a great device though quite expensive Care needs to be taken with your first shallow cut so not to damage the jig itself because the bearing won’t ride along it allowing the bit to damage the jig. I’d buy more but the price is steep.
I tried this out on a scrap maple piece to get a feel for it-and i came away very impressed! No more cobbling together a jig each time I need these handles! Highly recommend!
