The ultimate hardware kit for building a DIY router sled. Just supply a router, slab flattening router bit, 20mm linear rails and 20mm cross bars (shafts) to complete your sled.  The 20mm linear motion rails and shafts are an industry standard size and can be purchased from a variety of sellers and marketplaces like Amazon, McMaster Carr, Vevor and more.

To be clear, this kit does NOT include any rails or bars, unlike our full sized router sled products which are complete ready-to-assemble kits.

Complete Parts List

Included with the Ultimate Router Sled Hardware Kit is:

  • (4) Open SBR20UU Linear Bearing Blocks w/Dust Shroud
  • (4) Closed SC20UU Linear Bearing Blocks w/Dust Shroud
  • (4) SK20 Linear Rail Shaft Supports (Mounts)
  • (4) SBR20 Linear Rail Stops
  • (5) 30mm M6 Bolts
  • (48) 20mm M6 Bolts
  • (1) Acrylic Router Base (Choose Style From Dropdown)
  • (2) Acrylic Brackets

What You'll Need To Complete Your Sled

  • (2) 20mm SBR20 Linear Rail Sleds (We recommend 48" to 120" long)
  • (2) 20mm Linear Rail Shafts/Rods (We recommend 36" to 48" long)
  • A Compatible Router
  • A Slab Levelling Bit / Spoilboard Surfacing Bit
  • A Workbench / Table Top To Mount Your Sled

The slab levelling area of your sled will be determined by the length of rails and cross bars you use. In general when using a 2.5" diameter spoil board / slab flattening bit (like the SpeTool CA-IP-D1/2) you can expect a maximum slab length = rail length - 8.5", and maximum slab width = cross member length - 9.75". The maximum slab thickness is determined by the number of risers (if any) used to mount the side rails, the length of your router bit, and whether or not you are using a 1/2" collect extension. See the assembly and instructions video for a full explanation.

We precision cut and machine 1/2" thick acrylic components for the cross rail brackets and router mount to create a durable, cost effective solution that is going to save you time, money and boost shop efficiency.

Universal Hole Pattern 1 (U1)

Use any compatible full sized router with a range of commonly available spoil board (slab flattening) bits. The router base plate features pre-drilled holes for most commonly used routers, making assembly that much quicker.

Festool 1010/1400/2200 Hole Pattern (FEST)

The router base is pre-drilled with mounting holes for Festool 1010, 1400 and 2200 model routers. To accommodate the larger Festool routers the base plate is widened by 3/4", thereby reducing the slab flattening width area by 3/4" when compared to our standard universal router plate.

Universal Trim Router 1 (UTR1)

Use any compatible small trim router with a range of commonly available spoil board (slab flattening) bits. We do not recommend using spoilboard bits greater than 1.5" in diameter with trim routers. The router base plate features pre-drilled holes for most commonly used trim routers, making assembly that much quicker. The trim router base also includes two 3 7/8" long black phenolic handles with mounting screws to provide a more ergonomic user experience. Also note that the trim router base plate does NOT have anyway to accommodate exterior dust collection like the full sized base plates do.

Blank (Drill It Yourself) No Router Holes (BL)

This router base is identical to the universal router base plate except there are no pre-drilled holes for mounting your router. Use this base if you have a router incompatible (or just not listed) with our other router bases. Drilling your own holes is easy, simply apply some masking tape to the plate, center the router, mark the hole locations, put the router aside, then drill. Start with a 1/8" bit to drill a pilot hole then progressively move up in bit sizes until you get to the required hole diameter to accommodate your mounting screws. This will help to avoid cracking the acrylic. You can also use a countersink bit to ensure your screws sit level with the plate. Watch this short-video that demonstrates how to mount your router to the blank router base.

Optional Accessories

Dust Collection: An optional dust collection shroud and 2.5" boot is available for the U1, BL and FEST bases to help catch some of the dust created by slab milling. The dust collection accessory is not compatible with the UTR1 (trim router / compact router) base.

Push Stick Adapter: An optional paint pole push stick adapter is available for the U1, BL and FEST bases to make moving the router carriage back and forth easier. This accessory is not needed, or compatible with the smaller UTR1 trim router sled base.

Easy to put together, easier to use

Great tool. It really expands your capability. Well worth the cost!

The Router Sled is a nice addition to my shop. It is very solid but I do find that it sticks more than the sled that I use with my smaller router.

Very well made, great set up video. Cant wait to use it!

I purchased the Crafted Elements rails, cross bars and router sled. Previously I used a homemade system that was super cumbersome and difficult to use. Your system made flattening the slabs a breeze.

It's really heavy duty!! Easy to follow directions and put together. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, so I can't tell you much more. Looking forward to creating a new table with it soon!

Absolutely love it. Does everything I hoped it would. Heights is great but real easy to make more space with strips of plywood under the fixed guide rails. Couldn’t be happier

The sled works great. I used it to flatten several tree rounds. My only issue is that my chainsaw cut was at an angle which made it more difficult to adjust the depth of cut with my trim router. This will work really well if the work piece is more even to begin with.

The Crafted Elements system was very easy to assemble. Everything was perfectly marked. The assembly video provided on the website explained everything perfectly. I was able to assemble, adjust, and use the system the first time - without need to re-adjust anything. The photos attached show my set-up and first use on a 18" by 40" piece of walnut crotch 2-1/2" thick. > I set up a space outside so the dust generated would be easy to deal with. I installed a false ceiling of 12 ft. corrugated plastic to keep the rain off my work area. > I built a worktable using a 1" thick 36"x72" MDF laminated table top. > The linear rails are attached to 'straight' 2x4s with screws, and those 2x4s are held on to the worktop with clamps, so that I can remove them easily and move the whole gantry system indoors - to keep the system out of the rain, between jobs. It was easy to align and space the linear rails so that the 'bridge' moved smoothly along the length of the system. > The workpiece had a significant twist, so I used a powered planer to take off the highest points on both sides before placing it on the worktable. I did not need to use any clamps on the workpiece to keep it from moving - it was heavy enough by itself. (I just used shimming wedges under the workpiece to keep it from wobbling). > I used my Bosch 1/2" router and a spoilboard router bit - without a collet extension. (I did not end up using the dust skirt 'brush' as there was not enough space under the mounting - without the recommended collet extension). > Result... a flattened slab, ready for sanding. > The only issue I faced was related to the fact that the linear rails are in 2 pieces, and when sliding the 'bridge' along the length of the system, the 'slides' 'hit' the rail joints at the same time, making it difficult to slide the 'bridge' past the middle of the system. The next time I set up the system, I plan to 'offset' the joints in the linear rails - so that only one end of the bridge will hit the linear rail joints as a time. If this does not make it smooth enough, I will consider purchasing 8 foot linear rails to make it easier to move the 'bridge' along the work piece.

Outstanding! Everything is solid as a rock, smooth as silk and SIMPLE to build. Very, very impressed with this kit- thanks guys!

Great product, just want I needed

Used a 60" x 30" folding table and a 4' x 8' sheet of 3/4 inch plywood to make a table to build the router sled on. It was what I had and it works great. I have used it several times now and am very happy with how it works.

Great product

Muy bueno, el trineo muy funcional

Looks and works great !

Glides smoothly on the rails and the weight of everything makes surface planning much smoother and more control of the router. Just wish the actual surfacing area was larger compared to the size of the entire sled setup (knew this downside when ordering but seemed worth it).

I wanted the hole table unit not just the hard wear

Still on the fence? Pull the trigger, this router sled rocks

The sled only needed slight adjustment to the bearings.

Great company that produces awesome products

Order arrived promptly. Very pleased except that I apparently ordered the wrong kit. I should have ordered the kit with UTR1 to fit my Dewalt 618. I accidentally ordered the U1. I have access to some 1/2 inch Lexan, so with some difficulty I should be able to fabricate something that works. I will send along a video of the country tables I'm building when I get started. Thanks.

Still in the box but really nice quality equipment. Going to order the rest of the pieces I need soon.

Unit works great

Items were as expected

works great

Haven't set it up yet. Its a Christmas present. 😁 Will use it later in the spring to level an old , large, home built dining room table. Will get back to you then. Everything looks well designed and fabricated.

I had ordered the trim router skid and the full size skid was sent. A 4 news holes for the smaller router and things have been great.

After having waited through the International UPS screw ups and delays, I finally received my Crafted Elements Router Sled in its entirety. To say the least, it was well worth the wait! Thank-you Crafted Elements!!!
