16x0.5" Round Clock Style 2 CNC Cut Baltic Birch Wood Blank / Pre-Cut Plywood Shape
The Crafted Elements line of precision CNC cut wood shapes and blanks are perfect for resin art, painting, laser engraving and vinyl sign creation. If you are an artist or crafter looking for thick, high quality wood shapes then look no further!
Crafted out out of B/BB 1/2" (12mm) Baltic birch furniture grade plywood our shapes are guaranteed to be good one side, without obvious imperfections or fillers. The opposite side may have filler plugs or small defects. Shapes that have grooves or engraving on the surface will have no plugs or fillers on that side.
This SKU is for the wood blank only, it does not include any clock mechanism, hands or dials/ticks. Our clock blanks are designed to be used with standard off the shelf clock mechanisms with shafts up to 5/16". We recommend a shaft length of 20-31mm to ensure it can reach through the 1/2" thickness of the blank. The center hole in our blank is 0.35" (just over 5/16") to ensure a seamless installation. Check out clock mechanism kits on Amazon.com here. The clock dials or "ticks" are engraved 0.126" wide channels (just over 1/8") and are 0.25" (1/4") deep. They can accommodate 1/8" thick rectangles made out of plywood, aluminum or acrylic. We offer pre-cut acrylic dials / ticks in a few colors here.
Unlike regular plywood, Baltic birch has thicker, stronger veneer layers that are usually free of knots and voids. This means you don't end up with gaps or holes exposed on the edge when cutting and shaping it. It also features a muted neutral color tone and grain pattern, making it excellent for staining or painting. Gel stain, dye, paint and resin bond to Baltic birch plywood extremely well.
Don't settle for thin, flimsy 1/4" or 3/8" laser-cut material. Our 1/2" thick wood blanks are CNC cut and won't have any burning or charring around the perimeter that a laser cutter leaves and always rubs off on your hands. We inspect and give a light 120 grit sand to each shape as it comes off of our CNC machine to ensure you get a workpiece that is ready to go. You may, however, want to hand sand the perimeter with a sanding sponge (120 -> 180 -> 220 grit) for a perfectly smooth finish.
