Looking for the perfect flush trim router bit to pair with our router templates? The Crafted Elements 1/4" High Performance Spiral Down Cut Template bit is the best of the best. Made in the USA and created specifically to match our line of router templates, this double bearing, solid carbide steel bit features a 1/4" shank, 1" cutter length and 3" overall length. This bit is a direct substitute for the Amana 46297 Spiral Down Cut bit we previously recommended.
Plus, it's coated with our exclusive "Cool Cut Coating" system. A specializing multi-layer coating that reduces the friction between the bit and your material. The reduction of friction results in a reduction of heat, which results in a reduction of burn marks on your material and reduces wear on the bit.
In the end every bit eventually wears out and needs replaced, but a Cool Cut Coated bit stays sharper for longer, ensuring a clean trimmed finish with as little effort as possible.

This bit is engineered to be run at no more than 18,000 rpm. If you have a fixed speed router, check the rating on it before using this bit. Running the bit above its rated maximum rotational speed can lead to breakage or fracturing of the bit.

It is a great router bit and works very well. My only complaint so far is after the 1st use the bearings are not spinning very freely. Not sure if that will affect the operation of it on the next use but seems a little premature after only 1 use.

Used it to trace outside of template and when starting up to cut the inside of the handle it snapped and flew out. I reached out to customer service and was advised it is in a router with the speed too fast. I am using a Bosch 1617 in a Bosch router table. The bit had not even touched the wood. Just snapped and broke when I turned router on.

This is my second bit. It broke just like the first one.
My Freud router is set at 17100 as is required . The bit worked for awhile and then it just snapped near the collet. Exactly like the first one.
The collet was tight.
All I can say it that is is a good bit when it works but it is a frustrating situation constantly being let down in the middle of as project .
Perhaps this can be solved, and maybe not !
