If you have ever tried to manually create juice grooves in cutting boards, butcher blocks or grooves in cabinet door fronts you know that it can be a tricky task. That's why we developed the Crafted Elements Juice Groove Router Jig.

What is essentially an adjustable four-sided box can make your groove making game so much easier. With its integrated channels, threaded posts and adjustable knobs you can quickly and easily resize it. The height of the panels is 2.75", allowing you to create grooves in material up to 2.5" thick (leaving ~1/4" for your router plate to make contact with).

Now in its second generation the new juice groove jig is crafted from 3/4" hardwood plywood for greater rigidity than the outgoing 1/2" acrylic version. It is less susceptible to warping and bending while in use than HDPE or acrylic plastic. It is also available in two different sizes!

Choose From A Standard Size Or XL (Extra Large) Size

Standard Size:

  • Minimum Interior Size: 16x8"
  • Maximum Interior Size: 26.5x18.5"
  • Minimum Workpiece Size With 2.25" Spacers: 11.5x3.5"
  • Maximum Workpiece Size With 2.25" Spacers: 22x14"

XL (Extra Large) Size:

  • Minimum Interior Size: 21x11.75"
  • Maximum Interior Size: 38.75x22.5"
  • Minimum Workpiece Size With 2.25" Spacers: 16.5x7.25"
  • Maximum Workpiece Size With 2.25" Spacers: 34.25x18"

Note: The minimum and maximum workpiece (cutting board) size is based on the assumption that your juice groove will be inset 3/4" from the perimeter of your board, and you are using a 6" diameter router plate and 2.25" spacers. If you are using a 4" diameter router plate (trim router), you would use 1.25" spacers and gain an extra inch on each side (2" total width, and 2" total height).

While it's compatible with any router it's easiest to use a trim router due to its size and mobility. We recommend using one of our 6" diameter round router bases for greater stability and accuracy. We offer router bases for all popular late model compact palm routers. Click here for more information.

Using the Crafted Elements Juice Groove Router Jig is easy...

  1. Loosely assemble the jig, leaving the knobs untightened.
  2. Place your square or rectangular workpiece within the confines of the jig.
  3. Place offset spacers made of scrap pieces of wood between your workpiece and the inner walls of the jig. This is to help position the router bit, and therefore the groove, closer to the perimeter of your piece. Watch the video below for more on this. Assuming a 6" round router base is used, the width of the spacers should be 2.25" to give you a standard 3/4" inset groove.
  4. Adjust the walls inward so they are tight against the spacers or workpiece. Make sure the corners are square / the like walls parallel to each other.
  5. Clamp down the jig to your workbench or t-track table (not included).
  6. Install the bit of choice in your router (a 1/2" rounded bit with a 1/4" shank works best) and position it at the desired depth of your groove. For a depth greater than 3/16" deep, you'll want to do multiple passes.
  7. Turn your router on and place it on the starting point of your workpiece, keeping the plastic router base in contact with the inside of the juice groove jig walls at all times.
  8. Move your router in the appropriate direction, letting the router plate ride against the interior walls. Do not place excess pressure on the walls to avoid bending or bowing.
  9. Once you get back to the start point your groove is now complete. If it needs to be deeper, adjust your router bit accordingly and return to step 7.

To get you up and running with your new juice groove router jig we created a full assembly and how-to video that includes some best practices and helpful tips. Check it out below:

Overall rating: 4.6 / 5 from 359 reviews.

Very easy to use and made it a snap to add a juice groove to an end grain cutting board I built recently. I made plywood spacers and the spacing was perfect.

Love the large size and its adaptability.... the only flaw I've found is the routered-in hole on each piece. The common size cutting boards I create are the same height as that 'groove'. When my router plate gets to that are, the plate wants to slip into the hole, which totally messes up the straight path of the juice groove. Putting strong gorilla tape to cover it helps, but upon removing the tape, it damages the finish. I've paid good money for the juice groove jig. As well as 4 seperate handle jigs. Having to alter a new item... ehhh!!

Works great

Easy to use. Well built and designed.

I haven’t used it yet but it looks like it is well built. I will leave another review after I use it.

Really awesome tool for cutting boards

Easy to use and built well.

Looks great can't wait to use it

I found that the gap in the rails unfortunately matched the height of my trim router and cutting board. So when I went to go around the corner, the router glided through the groove and ruined the board.

Love product

Great jig and couldn’t be easier to use! Makes cutting the juice groove in a cutting board easy and perfect.

Easy to use and did a great job!

Works great at the correct price.

Exactly as advertised and a quality product.

It works good.

😁

Love

Great product and easy to use

Works great!

It works just as i had hoped it would!

Jig worked great. Highschool students used it and found it easy to use. Very happy with the results. When the cutting board was at the same height as the channel - the router plate slide into the channel and not against the wall. This didn’t happen a second time because we just put a thin 1/4 piece of mdf under the cutting board to raise it up. And the router had no problems running along the walls of the jig.

Works as intended! Speeds the process up.

Impressed with the quality and it worked great. Easy to use. Saved time versus making one. Good value.

Good, easy to use. A little lite for what I have in mind. A good product for the price,

Too easy!

Simple and works as advertised

Have not actually used it yet but will soon. Unfortunately I forgot I had already bought one six months earlier, so now I have two.

This jig is the perfect tool to add beautiful groves to your wood. I personally used it for cutting boards and the result was amazing!

Amazing product as always!

Works great. Easy to put together and adjust. I have used it on three cutting boards of different sizes.

Small flange to clamp down would help keep stable.

The Charcuterie and Cutting boards I make are exotic hardwoods and are mostly display items in kitchens. I take great care selecting woods based on coloring and grain (visual texture) and how I put those together to create a piece. I find the juice ring disrupts the flow of the grain and detracts from the finished product . The Juice Groove Jig… it works great. Just as advertised… but it’s a utilitarian based design. Not an art based design. It has its uses and remains in my options.

Works great

So much easier than by diy jig!!!! Should have done this a long time ago. Would have saved a lot of time and frustration!!

Easy to set up and get the perfect juice groove around the perimeter of my cutting boards

So simple to use and perfect results!!!

I have used the jig several times and am very pleased with it. I would recommend it. I have it hanging on a bolt right near my table where I work on cutting boards.. It takes about 5 minutes to put it together and is a snap to adjust to fit your project….

This accessory really simplified the task of making gutters on my joining boards. I love it!

Quality product. Easy to use

Very easy to assemble and use. Very satisfied
