Friends don't let friends pour without mold release! Seriously folks, if you want your silicone mold to last as long as it possibly can, you NEED to use a non-silicone based mold release spray.

Using a silicone based spray (like Apel, Stoner, SO Universal Release) isn't going to protect a silicone mold. Think of it like putting acrylic paint over acrylic paint... it's just going to make a thicker layer of paint, right?

That's where the Smooth On / Mann Ease Release 200 comes in. It's made of magical stuff, but not silicone. Applying it liberally to your mold interior and letting it dry before pouring your resin is going to create a near-invisible barrier to help harsh epoxy resin from possibly bonding to, and damaging your silicone mold due to tear out during demolding.

If you are a resin artist and want a glossier finish right out of your mold, consider the low-buildup Mann Ease Release 300 instead.

  • Smooth-On Mann Ease Release 200 is an excellent general purpose release agent for making molds and casting parts;
  • This product will release polyurethane elastomers, epoxy resin, polyester resins, RTV silicones, rubber, and thermoplastic polymers;
  • Ease Release 200 is effective on aluminum, chrome, RTV silicone, epoxy, rubber, and steel molds;
  • Fast drying. Effective over a broad temperature range from 70°F to 500°F;
  • Precise duplication of mold details. Less rejects, faster production Matte finish.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This product can only be shipped within the lower 48 US states and Canada. It can only be shipped via standard ground shipping. Why? It's an aerosolized product and possibly explosive, so putting it on a plane is a no no. Here's the not so awesome part: If you place an order for this product and choose "express shipping" or "expedited shipping" or you aren't located in the continental, lower 48 of the USA or Canada one of two things can happen. 1. We will remove the item from your order and refund you, and ship the rest of your order to you without notification or 2. We miss it, and ship your package anyway, then border security or the courier will confiscate the entire shipment, and lock it in a storage locker in a distant land never to be seen again. We don't get the shipment back, and you don't get your money back. Which is not fun. Cool?
