This 10x10x3" block mold is perfect for casting items such as flowers, rocks, and other memorabilia into resin up to 3" thick. It's an ideal size for resin encased models and sculptures.
The 3" depth and 10x10 footprint of this silicone mold also makes it ideal for making resin and wood blanks for wood turning to create resin and wood bowls.
This is a popular mold for creating small resin table lamps (turning the cast piece on its side to create an 10" wide x 10" tall and 3" front to back piece). Simply install an LED light on the bottom of your casting and up-light it from below. Works great with LED puck lights, and thin battery powered light strands.
Note that due to the stiffness of the silicone, demolding a piece of this height can be challenging. There are two ways to remove castings from this mold as peeling back the mold significantly will likely result in tearing.
1. Pouring distilled water between the cured resin piece and the interior wall of the mold and moving the water around the resin casting before trying to attempt to remove it from the mold.
2. Using a compressed air hose with a soft (plastic or rubber) gun nozzle end. Insert your air gun in between the casting and the mold wall and scale up the air flow rate until the casting rises from the mold.

The corners and edges never need sealed.
When using wood, the wood stays in place, tight in the mold if you cut it 1/16" larger than the width of the mold. Preventing the need for clamps or weights.
The mold is heat resistant (within reason!), and wont damage when you are popping epoxy bubbles with a torch or heat gun.
The molds are reusable. However silicone molds do have a finite lifespan when used with epoxy resin, but getting 20-30+ castings out of the mold can be expected when they are properly cared for and a mold release spray is used.
Like HDPE, epoxy does not stick to silicone. However in rare cases where the epoxy hasn't fully set (and is still mildly tacky) it can be harder to remove, and potentially create pits or small tears inside the mold when your piece is pulled out. Thus, we recommend the use of mold release spray before each pour to increase the life of your mold. We use the 'MG Chemicals 8329 Non-Silicone Epoxy Mold Release', or Smooth On Ease Release™ 200 which is readily available on Amazon.
